Since Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the humanitarian tragedy there has inspired countless Canadians to organize and send aid, but one doctor wants to share his expertise.

“I was asked if I could come to Ukraine to treat war burn victims,” ​​said Dr. Anthony Papp, a volunteer with the Surgical Medical Support Group.

dr Papp is on his way to Ukraine for a two-week stay in a hospital in Lviv.

“You’re missing a lot of equipment. They don’t have a lot of supplies, and they have a major shortage of nurses,” Papp said.

Papp is one of the province’s top burn physicians.

He will work in a theater of war where, in addition to the usual devastation of combat, Russia has been accused of using incendiary weapons such as thermite and white phosphorus, weapons specially designed to burn people.
