CotC Complete Equipment Guide – FandomSpot

There are four types of equipment in Champions of the Continent:

  • weapons
  • helmets
  • armor
  • Accesories

All weapons and some accessories affect the damage your units can deal to enemies, while armor, helmets and most accessories reduce the damage your units take from enemy attacks.

Equipment pieces are divided into tiers. The higher the level, the higher the stats they can give your unit.

Note, however, that your units cannot equip equipment of a higher level than your unit’s level.

What is equipment used for?

Bronze Armor (Get Prompt)

Equipping a unit with a weapon, armor, helmet, and accessories increases its defensive and offensive stats.

This allows that specific unit to attack more dangerous higher tier opponents.

In general, it’s better to keep the level of your equipment at the level of your opponent to prevent your unit from having trouble dealing damage or dying too quickly.

Equipment types and all stats

Smithy (Beast Slayer) / Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent
Forge (Beast Slayer)

Here are the four gear types in the game and how many slots there are for each in all characters:

device types Number of slots per character
weapons 1
armor 1
helmets 1
Accesories 2

You also need to keep gear stats in mind when choosing the best gear for your units:

Stat what it does
HP Determines the number of hit points your unit has. The higher it is, the more damage they can take before fainting.
SP Determines the number of stamina points your unit has. The higher it is, the more spells or abilities your units can cast.
P.Atk Determines the amount of damage you can deal with your normal attacks and physical abilities.
P.Def Determines the amount of damage you can mitigate before it is subtracted from your total hitpoints.
M.Atk Determines the amount of damage your spells or element-based attacks can deal.
M.Def Determines the amount of resistance you have against element-based attacks and the amount of healing your unit can inflict.
crit Determines the damage your units can deal on a critical attack.
Spd Determines how quickly your unit can take its turn in the charge phase.

TIP: Gear items that give you HP or SP stat boosts are rare, so make sure to save them for units that will benefit the most from their bonuses.

Some pieces of gear also have additional effects that give your units all kinds of buffs in addition to the stat boosts they give. Keep an eye out for them.

Recommended gear stats for each role

One of the most important things to consider when choosing gear is the type of stat boosts they provide and the role of the unit you’re looking to equip.

Here are the stats I recommend you prioritize for each role:

roll classes Recommended statistics
tank Warrior, Apothecary, Merchant P.Def
E.Def
HP
healer Clerics, Apothecaries, Dancers E.Def
SP
Spd
Physical DPS Hunter, warrior, thief P.Atk
crit
