Loyalist College will open a new campus in downtown Port Hope in the fall of 2023

Belleville-based Loyalist College plans to open a new campus in downtown Port Hope, Ontario in the fall of 2023.

The college announced Tuesday that the new campus at the former St. Mary’s Elementary School will offer programs in business, computer systems engineering and global project management. International applications are currently being accepted, national applications will begin in early October.

Loyalist College acting president Mark Kirkpatrick made the announcement along with Port Hope Mayor Bob Sanderson, Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini, former college president Ann Marie Vaughan and the faculty and staff of the colleges.

“Our small, innovative team at Loyalist College has a reputation for creating engaging programs that benefit students and our local industry and community partners in Quinte Bay,” said Kirkpatrick.

“We are excited to share this vision and expertise with our neighboring community of Port Hope – a region that is also experiencing rapid growth and is committed to giving back to their community. I want both Mayor Sanderson and Dr. Personally thank Ann Marie Vaughan for recognizing the importance of removing barriers to education in this region and for supporting this project.”

The college aims to welcome 120 students to the Port Hope campus in 2023, rising to more than 400 by 2026. The college says its location will help connect with local businesses involved in precision farming and supply chain management.

According to Sanderson, the new campus underscores that the city is a place for “opportunity and growth.”
